2023 Performance Series Applications Now Open
The 2023 Performance series applications are now open to musical performance groups. Groups of trios or larger are invited to apply for the 222 East Concert Series and Brand Summer Music Series by January 27, 2023, at 5pm.
Beyond the Box murals celebrate people with disabilities
Residents and visitors can now find new installations of Glendale’s Beyond the Box – Mural Art Program throughout Glendale. Artists submitted proposals inspired by this year’s theme of ‘Celebrating People with Disabilities’ to promote a positive representation of people with disabilities in all types of media.
A Celebration of Life and Death: Día de Los Muertos @GLAC
Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos (DDLM) in Spanish, is a Mexican holiday that is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. Día de Los Muertos is a vibrant celebration of life rooted in folklore. Glendale Library, Arts & Culture celebrates the Glendale Community on Saturday, November 5, 3-7pm at Central Library.

Preparing for the Future While Revisiting the Past: Introducing Memory Kits at GLAC
Dementia is described as “the loss of cognitive abilities like thinking, remembering, and reasoning to the extent that it interferes with daily life”. In Los Angeles County alone, there is currently an estimated 166,857 residents aged 65 and older, living with Alzheimer’s disease. With that number expected to more than double by 2040, easily accessible resources and programs for patients and care partners living with these debilitating conditions are greatly needed.

Spotlight on glendaleOUT
On Tuesday June 28, 2022, members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community gathered at Dave’s on Broadway in Glendale, California to commemorate the 53-year anniversary of the Stonewall uprising. The event was organized by glendaleOUT, a local grass-roots organization dedicated to amplifying the presence of the queer narrative in Glendale.

Walking through Glendale’s Central Library, you will see a small spectrum of our community. You will see the young faces of children heading upstairs for Story time holding their parent’s hand; you may see college students studying, deep into a computer screen or tablet; an adult reading a newspaper; the public using computers and you may also see faces of the unhoused population of our city, often called the homeless. Ambulating throughout the building is the gentle face of Mary Leasure, Glendale Library, Arts & Culture’s Social Services Liaison.
