NATURE LITERACY TO-GO

Glendale Library, Arts & Culture is thrilled to announce our new program Nature Literacy To-Go, designed to get adults out into nature and exploring. Join us for workshops in nature foraging, bird watching, botanical journaling, gardening, and more! Or check out one of our Nature Literacy To-Go backpack kits and the CA State Park Pass, accessing free admission to many of California’s beautiful state parks. Our Nature Literacy To-Go backpack contains a translation device allowing you to explore the great outdoors and interpret park signs in many languages. California parks are for all, enjoy them for free through Nature Literacy To-Go!

  • CA State Library Parks Passes are available to check out for 3 weeks. These passes are not to keep, and must be returned to the library for the next person to use. California State Parks offers many programs for free and discounted passes if you’re looking for a pass of your own. For more information please visit https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1049  

  • No, CA State Library Parks Passes will not work at National Parks. For information on free and discounted passes to National parks, please visit: https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/passes.htm#onthisPage-2 

  • The parks pass covers parking fees for one vehicle with carrying capacity up to nine passengers or one motorcycle. The pass does not cover other fees you might encounter at parks like camping, entry or tour fees, boat use, additional vehicles, etc.  

  • How long do I get to keep a Parks Pass or backpack? 

    • The Nature Literacy To-Go Backpack includes a translation device along with some materials to help you explore the outdoors like a flashlight and interpretive booklets. These backpacks are for park goers who might need help translating park signage from English into another language. 

    • The California State Library Parks Pass Backpack includes a Parks Pass along with other materials to help you explore the outdoors like binoculars, hiking poles, a microscope, and more.
