Discover Exciting Local Artists, With Love From LA
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed many aspects of our day-to-day life this year, including the ability to see live entertainment. Many venues and artists have taken an economic hit and have had to search for creative new ways to reach audiences and fans. Now a local virtual event series arrives on the scene to help fill the live performance void. With Love From LA is a monthly online series spotlighting exciting independent LA creatives—both in conversation and in concert, generously sponsored by the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission through funding from the Urban Art Program.
Los Angeles is a city famous around the world for its wealth of contributions to the mainstream entertainment and media industries, as well as the enduring lore of Hollywood. Lesser known are some of the city’s best kept secrets, the countless creatives—independent musicians, artists, dancers, filmmakers, poets, and writers alike who call the city home, and strive to keep challenging themselves creatively, offering audiences glimpses into alternate realities and worlds full of possibility. With Love From LA seeks to highlight these undiscovered gems of artists, and, by sharing them with the community, create new fans of their work.
This month’s featured artist will be jazz and electronica musician Mark de Clive-Lowe. On Wednesday, October 14 at 5pm, de Clive-Lowe will appear in an online conversation to discuss the process of making his music, as well as what it means to him to now call Los Angeles his home. The following Wednesday, October 21 at 5pm, With Love from LA presents de Clive-Lowe in virtual concert, blending genres and decades with his live remixing setup of keyboards, drum machine, samplers, and effects.
