Paying tribute to women of the local community in a celebration of history and culture and in recognition of the community’s struggle for inclusion and equity.
ART KIT
A Woman Who Inspires Me...
Pick up an art kit at all our branches and create a beautiful mini art piece for an exhibit
Teens will not only have their art piece displayed but will also receive a community service hour for their submissions.
Distribution will start in the second week of March.
“BREAKING” THE GLASS JAR
Join us on this Women's History Month workshop and decorate a glass jar with a beautiful crackle effect. While we will "break" the glass jar, we will keep a silhouette of a woman intact.

Decoupage Box with Inspirational Women
On this special Women's History Month workshop you will learn how to decoupage a wooden box. We will be using book pages, images of inspirational women, and other materials to make a small yet beautiful wood box.

LOCAL RESOURCES
YWCA of Glendale - The YWCA of Glendale provides confidential services and education to community in an effort to end domestic violence. The services include case management, legal assistance, counseling, referrals, childcare as well as temporary community living at an undisclosed, safe location.
League of Women Voters of Glendale/Burbank - The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government. It also works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy
Downtown Women’s Center - The Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) envisions a Los Angeles with every woman housed and on a path to personal stability. Its mission is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, employment, and advocacy.
Women's Advocacy Club - Women’s Advocacy Club is a global non-profit charity organization. As it continues to grow, it hopes to connect with more like-minded people to raise importance to gender, mental health, and social justice issues.
Prototypes - Prototypes rebuilds the lives of women, children and communities impacted by substance use, mental illness and domestic violence. They promote self-sufficiency while ensuring safety and shelter for those in need.
Af3irm Los Angeles - The LA chapter hosts annual International Women’s Day celebrations, participates in anti-war and pro-immigrant rallies and forums, and often host AF3IRM’s Red Feminist Radio. In the past, they have hosted fashion shows to highlight AF3IRM’s campaigns and worked with high school youth to fight against domestic violence and rape.
Peace Over Violence - Peace Over Violence is a social service agency that offers one on one intervention in sexual assaults, domestic abuse, youth violence and child abuse in addition to specialized services reaching underserved groups like Latinas, Deaf, Disabled, Elder, LGBTQ, and Youth.
Junior League of Los Angeles - The Junior League of Los Angeles is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.
GENERAL RESOURCES
National Women’s History Museum - For the last twenty years, the National Women’s History Museum has served as the largest online cultural institution dedicated to US women’s history. As an institution, it has galvanized support for preserving, illuminating, and sharing the powerful history of women in America.
Women’s History (ThoughtCo)- Expert-curated educational content about the half of history missing from many history books with biographies, articles, timelines and other resources on the women—famous and lesser-known—who have shaped our world.
The National Women’s History Alliance - A leader in promoting Women’s History and is committed to the goals of education, empowerment, equality, and inclusion. The National Women’s History Alliance announced the women’s history theme for 2023: “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.”
Smithsonian Institution - To create a more equitable America, the Smithsonian is researching, disseminating, and amplifying the histories of American women through its American Women’s History Initiative. The Smithsonian wants the role of women in American history to be well-known, accurate, acknowledged, and empowering.
Women’s History Month - The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in commemorating and encouraging the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history.
YWCA - In honor of Women’s History Month, YWCA will launch their 31 Days of Women’s Impact Initiative, during which they’ll highlight the achievements of women past and present in a wide range of industries while highlighting how they’re continuing the work of empowering the women of today and tomorrow.
National Women's Hall of Fame - The National Women's Hall of Fame, an organization dedicated to "celebrating the achievements of distinguished American women," features a wide range of icons, many of whom bucked societal gender norms to become the first woman, or one of the first, in their fields.
UNLADYLIKE2020 - A series of 26 short films and a one-hour documentary profiling diverse and little-known American women from the turn of the 20th century, and contemporary women who follow in their footsteps. The series premiered on PBS’s American Masters in honor of the centennial of women's suffrage.
