The General Election is the final election for a political office with a limited list of candidates. The candidates in the general election are the people who won their party’s primary election. General elections happen at a local, state, and national level.

MAIL-IN & IN-PERSON VOTING

Beginning with the November 5, 2024 General Election all registered voters will be mailed a Vote by Mail ballot to ensure a safe and accessible voting option during the COVID-19 pandemic. Find out more.

California Elections and Voter Information  

For California residents who want to be voters, register to vote here. 

For California residents age 16 and 17 who want to be future voters, pre-register to vote here.

IMPORTANT DATES

October 3 - Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk begins sending Mail-In Ballots.  

October 21 - Voter registration deadline. 

October 26 - Drop off your ballot at local voting centers begins.

November 5 - General Election. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by this midnight on this date.

New citizens who will be at least 18 years of age at the time of the next election are eligible to register to vote. 

Military and Overseas Voters  - As a military or overseas voter, you will experience the same voter registration process as other residents in L.A. County. However, you have more options for submitting the application.
