The time for tax returns to be filed is right around the corner, and preparation can sometimes be a hectic process depending on your situation. Normally the date would fall on April 15, but the IRS recently announced that individuals filing their taxes would now have an extension until May 17, 2021. To assist with your tax preparation needs, Glendale Library, Arts & Culture has gathered a variety of useful resources that address some common tax-related questions into one accessible hub.

Through the IRS website, a collection of all current tax forms and publications are available to download and print. For federal tax returns, some of the more commonly used forms are Form 1040 and the accompanying Form 1040 instructions. Electronic filing can be a conveniently free method to submit your taxes. There are also multiple electronic filing options for individuals. If you prefer to physically mail your federal tax return, mailing information is an option. For California, state tax return forms and instructions are readily available, including the commonly used Form 540, Form 540 2EZ, and instructional Form 540 2EZ booklet. Both electronic filing and physical mailing options can be used to submit your state tax returns.

If you would like tax forms and publications in accessible formats, you have the option to view or download these documents in formats such as Braille and large print. If you prefer to have tax forms delivered directly to your address, submit your request to the IRS. Free tax return preparation is also available for qualifying taxpayers. You can also check the status of your refund after completing your tax return. There are a wide variety of options available to help complete your tax returns, and we hope that you find these resources useful when choosing the options that meet your individual needs.
