Online Resources for Finding Your Next Book

Not sure what book you’d like to read next? While all of our Glendale Library, Arts & Culture locations are currently closed, there are still ways to virtually browse for books. Below are some resources for staying informed of new materials and to assist you in the search to find your next book. You can also visit our Digital Library to find over 300,000 titles across several online platforms.

If you are interested in seeing what items are new to Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, you can sign up for the weekly Wowbrary newsletter. This newsletter will allow you to see all of the new materials Glendale Library, Arts, & Culture has added to the collection each week, in both print and digital formats. It can also be customized based on your interests. If you see an item you are interested in, you can request it using the library catalog. For help signing up for the weekly email, find a tutorial here

NoveList Plus is a database that you can browse when looking for new books to read. Novelist allows for multiple ways to browse: by category, by genre, or you can also search for books similar to a title you’ve already enjoyed. When you have found a book you are interested in, you can check the library’s catalog to see if the library has that title. If the title you are interested in is a physical book, you can place the item on hold and pick it up using curbside pickup.

NoveList K-8 Plus is a resource for children’s and teen fiction and nonfiction titles. Like Novelist Plus, there are many ways in which books can be searched for or browsed, including by age and Accelerated Reader level, as well as by mood and interests. Categories include various genres, readalikes, and even quarantine reads.

For assistance navigating both NoveList platforms please click here.

We hope these resources will be helpful in finding your next book. Just a reminder that Glendale Library, Arts & Culture is offering contactless curbside pickup at the Glendale Central Library, so physical items can still be requested from the catalog. And--if you select Curbside Premium service--a librarian will select up to ten additional books based on the holds you have already reserved. If you need any assistance putting books on hold please click here. Library staff are also happy to assist you. We are available at (818) 548-2021, during the hours of 8:00 am–6:00 pm, Monday–Saturday.

Happy reading!
