March is Maker Month!

Glendale Library, Arts & Culture is pleased to announce that March is Maker Month! Though we are celebrating virtually this year, you will have a chance to explore, learn, and have fun with numerous maker activities. Join workshops, watch exclusive maker interviews, and explore making resources from coding and music mixing, to painting and sewing.

Maker Month kicks off with a virtual panel focusing on women in tech. Join Ani Torosyan, Edit Vosganians, and Andrea Dominguez on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 6:30 pm as they discuss their paths into the tech field, as well as some of the challenges of being a woman in tech. All month long enjoy virtual workshops for adults, teens, and children. Learn new skills, be creative, and explore making with a variety of workshops. Click here to browse workshop offerings. Workshops include: creating your own basic website, learning how to make dinosaur fossils, a science lab and trivia challenge, how to bake zucchini brownies, soap making, and much more! If you attend workshops and events as part of Maker Month you will get entries into an opportunity drawing. Stay tuned for more information.

Throughout the month keep up with Teen Glendale Empowerment Now (G.E.N.) Talks and tune in for interviews with a variety of Makers. The interviews will premiere every Wednesday at 4:30 pm during the month of March. You can also explore past Teen G.E.N. Talks episodes featuring Makers. Click on the photo tile to watch the video. Explore booklists and maker resources for all ages. The children’s booklist features STEAM reads. The teen and adult booklist focuses on books where you can learn all about baking, coding, journaling, sewing, music production, painting, soap making, and more. Check out the maker resources page featuring videos, websites, and other resources that focus on all things maker—from arts and crafts to 3D modeling, you will find plenty to keep busy.
