Join the Spring Reading Challenge

While we’re all adjusting to a new norm of staying safe at home, this is the perfect time to get the family reading and growing by joining our new online reading challenge. From now through May 30th, Spring Into Reading offers Glendale Library, Arts & Culture patrons a way to log their reading, earn activity badges, and receive personal recommendation lists. This is also a way to stay connected to the larger community in this uncertain time. Let the library bring the world into your home!

Whether you access the program on the web or download the app to your device, our new online platform Beanstack allows readers to easily log their books and complete fun activities to earn badges. In addition to reading books, eBooks, magazines, newspapers, or listening to audiobooks, readers will be challenged to complete activities in three different categories.

  • In Explore Your World you can take a tour of our national parks, explore museums, travel into space with NASA and more, all from the comfort of your couch.

  • In Get Digital, you can explore the many free resources the library has to offer, such as a wide variety of eMaterials and online programming.

  • And of course, Get Lost in a Good Book poses some new ways to read just for fun--which is the endgame afterall, as well as a wonderful way to relieve stress by helping you relax and boost your mood. Just ask Ms. T-Rex

The reading challenge is for people of all ages, and you are able to register an account for yourself (or the whole family) in an instant. Whether you’re a parent or caregiver looking for ways to keep your children engaged while finding a way to implement e-learning from home, or a teen or grown-up getting antsy around the house yourself and looking for things to do, this program is absolutely for you. And let’s face it: you're never too old to build a pillow fort and cozy up and read. Join the Glendale Library, Arts & Culture community as we all try to read as many books as we can this spring. Though we may be physically distanced at this time, we can all virtually come together to read and grow in order to stay connected.  Get started today!
