Dealing with Stress and Anxiety
We can all benefit from adopting coping mechanisms when dealing with stress. Here are a few that might help:
This may sound overly simple, but deep breathing is often the first line of defense for people when they feel a panic attack coming on.
Give yourself the option to take obligations off your to-do list.
Pay extra attention when taking a walk, have a quiet cup of tea, or take extra time with personal grooming.
Whatever you do for exercise, walking, running, yoga, going to the gym, playing sports, it is good for your mood. Even if you are busy, try to get your body moving in whatever form that may take. Exercise not only boosts endorphins, it also acts like moving meditation and focuses your mind on your immediate activity.
It is natural and normal to be stressed sometimes. But long-term stress can cause physical symptoms, emotional symptoms and unhealthy behaviors. Try relieving and managing stress using a few simple strategies, but if you feel overwhelmed talk to your doctor.
